Michael Storrings’ Book: A Very New York Christmas

Michael Storrings will have a new book out, A Very New York Christmas, and it will be available in stores tomorrow. While it is nearly out, it just appeared in Maureen Mackey’s Books That Inspire (Especially Now): List #2 on Reader’s Digest. Pretty good for a book that is not out yet!

a very new york christmas

As I said last week, with now being such a dark time in so many ways, it is good to have a little cheer for a brighter future. To that end, Regis Philbin said on the back cover:

Nobody celebrates Christmas like New Yorkers. And no town gets dressed up like New York at Christmastime. It’s a feast for the eyes. It’s happiness and good cheer on every corner and Michael Storrings has captured it all for you in this book

Penguin Rescue; Good News in Dark Times

It is nice to know that given such dark times in the world (global economic meltdown, a US war on two fronts, a horribly long and negative presidential election campaign, global climatic change and warming, deteriorating US respect throughout the world, etc.), some really good environmental news for a lost colony of 373 penguins in South America: Flight of the penguins: Rescuers return wayward birds home – CNN.com.

We should take a lesson about working together to solve global problems from this.

Google’s Holiday Logos

Logo_60wht Do you like the Google logos that regularly change, depending on the holiday and event? Google has mastered the ability to incorporate holiday symbols while still maintaining their corporate look and feel.

All this made me wonder–is there a specific location to see all of these logos in one place? I Googled that (of course!), and there sure is! All of Google’s special logos are listed on their Holiday Logos page. It also makes sense that there is a single graphic artist who creates all of  them–Dennis Hwang.

I needed a little levity before my new online class begins tomorrow, so this is it. Hey, different people find different ways of preparing. Good lesson in there for me, I think . . .

Tom Ford vs. Thom Browne

Tom Ford or Thom Browne? While Tom Ford dresses men in clothes more formal than I like to wear, I can’t help thinking that Thom Browne has sold people a bill of goods that clothes that are too small and really do not fit are somehow worth selling at a premium.

Perhaps I am just too conservative, but you be the judge:
