The Coding Manual for Qualitative Researchers

the coding manual Just as I thought I would struggle with qualitative coding again and again, I stumbled across Johnny Saldana’s new text, The Coding Manual for Qualitative Researchers. Great overview of all the various sorts of coding, along with great screenshots of how these are used in practice from the major CAQDAS options.

Armed with this new knowledge and clarity, I can’t wait for my next set of interviews with data to code!

Adult Education Research Conference (AERC2009)

No sooner do I get myself home and settled from my perspective-reinforcing Qualitative Congress, but now I am off again, this time headed to Chicago for the 50th Adult Education Research Conference. This time, I am presenting a paper entitled The Critical Incident Questionnaire (CIQ): From Research to Practice and Back 5008 Again.

If you are in Chicago on Saturday, May 30, from 9:00-9:45 and want to check it out, I will be in room 5008 at the National-Louis University (NLU) Campus, 122 S. Michigan Avenue.

Jeffrey’s Twitter Updates for 2009-05-25

  • Finally home after a 2 hour drive from the airport. No more technology for the night. Night, Twitterverse. #
  • Just submitted my first doctoral paper for internal peer review and feedback. We learn constructiv feedback techniques here, too! #
  • Landed in Newark and at the gate, though the gangway is stuck so here we sit. The pilot is making us laugh; removes the stress. #
  • Almost done with my Lancaster paper. Will finish it on the plane and submit it from the airport when we arrive. #
  • Finally boarded the plane, only half an hour late thus far. #
  • The plane arrived here late from Newark, and it is offloading and being cleaned now. #
  • Working on my research paper Lancaster. It is due by midnight tonight, London time. I have been doing this every day for 4 weeks. #
  • Sitting in the Indianapolis Airport waiting for my flight back to Newark. #

Photos from the Qualitative Congress, QI2009

I carried my camera with me at all times, though generally forgot to take it out and use it, being so busy liveblogging! Here are the few I did manage to take.

Note to self—take more at my next conference (that begins on Wednesday, as a matter of fact). I only have one more this year, AERC2009, but more about that later.
