BUT when looking at the #TtW13 participants bit.ly/W4MhoX I can’t help but notice a wee lack of diversity. Scratching my head.

@JeffreyKeefer Pretty sure they do ‘blind’ abstract review. Unless you mean ideas, but I think the range isn’t bad. Needs two days though.
@JeffreyKeefer I don’t find diversity in people or ideas at #TtW13. Invited speakers aren’t new, seem to be same ones from last 2 years.
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer the goal of #TtW13 is to provide space for viewpoints underrepresented at other tech & theory conferences
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer that there is a core, and expanding, community doing critical theorizing of the web is a good thing. #TtW13
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer but i share your desire for their to be more folks doing this, which is kind of why we made #TtW13
@nathanjurgenson @JeffreyKeefer The invited voices you’ve chosen are so well represented at other web, internet confs they drown out others.
@nathanjurgenson @JeffreyKeefer This is certainly a different attitude than when we spoke about this a month ago. Progress, I suppose.
@nathanjurgenson @JeffreyKeefer Point is, this conf is meant to expand, give voices to underrepresented, so why invite same POVs every time?
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer yes, 2 of 5 invited speakers were invited before. i dont see that as a bad thing
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer also, ttw seeks to represent voices w/ respect to other conferences
@trentmkays @JeffreyKeefer all that said, would be excited to see other folks w/ different perspectives make other events, too!
