Michael Storrings is signing his ornaments, book, and tabletop items today (Black Friday), tomorrow, and Sunday at the flagship Saks Fifth Ave. in Manhattan from 1:00-4:00 pm.

Let us hope that the incredible busyness that we saw at Tavern on the Green yesterday (both in the shop as well as waiting for our 8:00 pm reservations) translates into a better shopping year than the (reactionary?) news people are yelling about.

Among the more detailed ornaments Michael Storrings paints is his Thanksgiving Day Parade ornament, which captures the joy and wonder of the parade I have felt for my 20+ years in New York City. How fitting it is for today, as the parade is about to begin.
BTW, this ornament is available at a number stores in New York, including Saks Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.

Michael Storrings will be signing his book A Very New York Christmas at the Gift Shop at Tavern on the Green today from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. What better place to see after the Thanksgiving Parade than Tavern, which is located right in New York’s Central Park.

Michael Storrings and Diana Williams will be hosting the American Cancer Society’s The Hope Lodge Reception and Tree Lighting Celebration at a benefit for the non-profit cancer patient residence on December 4 in New York City. More information, an invitation to the event, and opportunities to donate can be found on Hope Lodge’s website.
With so many people facing cancer, it is wonderful to see that the American Cancer Society provides free temporary housing for 22,000 people a year in New York City who are receiving cancer treatments.

Michael Storrings will be signing his book and ornaments for the second and final day this year in New Orleans today. He will be at the Lakeside, Metairie location, signing his Galatoire’s Ornament, among other New Orlean’s landmarks.
If you miss him there, he will be signing several other ornaments, plates, and such in New York City beginning early November. It is nice to know that quality, European hand-made ornaments can still be found this holiday season.

Today, Michael Storrings’ first Christmas book, somewhat based on his European hand-blown and painted ornaments, arrived in the stores. I posted the first comment on Amazon.com about it today as well. As a matter of fact, this was the first Amazon comment I ever made (over all the years I have been purchasing on the site)!
I really meant everything I said in the review, and having received and read my copy today, I have to confess that there are few other ways $13.57 (the current Amazon price) can be spent in a better way.

Michael was mentioned in this past week’s Cindy Adams Gossip column in the ONLY>New York Post. A nice comment about Michael’s book A Very New York Christmas which has an introduction by Cynthia Nixon. Way to go, Michael!
