Jeffrey’s Twitter Updates for 2008-12-30

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Twitter

  • Reviewing books for a professional organization this morning. #
  • Could not sleep much last night; just tossed and turned. #
  • Odd that the Facebook notifications I received and deleted from my Blackberry were still downloaded when I finally got Outlook to work. #
  • Seems we have Internet access at home again (finally). Now, to just get the wifi working again. #
  • At the Jack Spade store on Bleecker. Yes, the same one I did not like yesterday. #
  • Have to get another prescription for the condition on my hand. Hope the insurance covers it. #
  • The orchid that has been on my desk for the past 3 years has bloomed for the first time. It is quite beautiful. #
  • 106.7 Lite FM is back to light music. Wish I could get my Sirius at work — they still have their 3 Christmas stations. #
  • There are more people in the office today than I thought there would be. #

The Orchid Bloomed in My Office!

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Culture, Nature

After having this orchid for years sitting on my desk, it finally bloomed!

Jeffrey's Orchid

I took a few photos of this and uploaded them to Flickr, for all to enjoy.

I like this symbol of new life and celebration, especially after Yule and before New Year’s. Even when things around us can be challenging or even crumbling, such little celebrations in nature can inspire and give us hope for a better day to come.

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Twitter

  • In the office today. #
  • Home phone is not working. Odd. #
  • A Jack Spade opened on Bleecker Street; I have tried so hard to like his bags, but they are just so . . . #
  • Wonder why there is a line outside Marc by Marc Jacobs on Bleecker St. #
  • Horrible traffic through the Lincoln Tunnel. #
  • Sky is dark, but no rain. 65 degrees outside. Global climatic change, all right. #

Jeffrey’s Twitter Updates for 2008-12-28

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Twitter

  • Still enjoying Christmas music. Not quite ready for that to end. #
  • Watched the birds eat as it was getting dark. Saw some deer walk and jump by, too. #
  • Making mulled wine; a particular favorite winter beverage. #
  • Dumped the trash at the local transfer station. The per bag cost keeps climbing here; perhaps it encourages recycling? #
  • Thinking about end of the year accomplishments and goals for next year and beyond. #
  • Getting ready to go to the dump. #
  • Finally got up. Everything is still icy outside, though it seems the temperature is rising. #

Jeffrey’s Twitter Updates for 2008-12-27

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Twitter

  • Just realized I have been weaving incorrectly. It was taking so long I was about to swear-off hand-made scarves. #
  • Learning to use a loom I got for Christmas. #
  • Now sitting by the fire watching Miracle on 34th St. Macy’s was certainly different back then. #
  • Had to get some meds at the pharmacy. #
  • Can’t shake this cold or allergy condition I have had for the last week. Think I need to talk with my doctor. #

  • Lit the fire and enjoying relaxing Christmas music in my chair with Posey while sipping coffee. #
  • All the rain from yesterday froze; glad I do not need to drive anywhere today. #
  • What a cold Christmas morning. Snow flurries outside. #
  • I always get choked up at the end of It’s a Wonderful Life. #
  • Watching It’s a Wonderful Life for the second time this year. #
  • I have been interested in the labyrinth since the first time I visited Chartres Cathedral and saw it on the floor. #

Jeffrey’s Twitter Updates for 2008-12-24

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Twitter

  • Really bummed that the deli where I normally go to get a coffee and sandwich while fixing the car is closed. Too cold, wet, and raw outside. #
  • It is still too cold for rain, so everything is icy. Miserable weather to have to drive in. Have an appointment to fix the car window. #
  • Very cold up here. About a foot of snow and freezing rain outside now. #
  • Was able to get out of NYC for a few days. Miss the energy of Manhattan, but the quiet of the mountains is a nice change. #
  • Hurray, five days off in a row! #
  • Farewell, PC Magazine (new blog post) http://tinyurl.com/7v24qq #
  • Off to get my haircut during lunch. It was rescheduled from last night. #

WordPress “Press This” via the BlackBerry

Posted by: Jeffrey Keefer    in Communication, Functionality, Technology

I have blogged several times about my desire and struggle to be able to create blog posts from my BlackBerry. I am not satisfied with Postie or the built-in emailable blog posting capability of WordPress. Too many delays and punctuation and formatting issues to make them reliable solutions.

However, I think I may have found a solution in the recently upgraded WordPress 2.7 “Press This” feature.

Press This is a shortcut bookmark feature to save on a browser for fast blog postings when on a web page of interest. Instead of saving it to my desktop browser, I saved the link to my BlackBerry browser. I opened the bookmark on my phone, was given the most basic posting options, and this post is the result. Press This allows me to post directly to my blog without opening my blog’s full admin screen (which does not open on my BlackBerry due to all the coding and features there).

This is my second post using Press This, and I wanted to share this success with anybody out there who is also struggling to post to a WordPress blog from a BlackBerry.
