• About to leave to see the show “White Christmas” on Broadway. #

• Enjoyed seeing White Christmas. Having a drink in the Broadway Lounge overlooking Times Square from the 8th floor. #
• I cooked breakfast this morning. First time I made bacon on the stove in years. The new pan (Christmas gift) works really well. #
• Have to take a drive to the Catskills. Hope it is not snowing there. #
• Will miss Michael’s ornament and book signings at Saks today. #
• There is still over a foot of snow in the Catskills. The snow is still on the trees. Very pretty. #

Michael Storrings is signing his ornaments, book, and tabletop  items today (Black Friday), tomorrow, and Sunday at the flagship Saks Fifth Ave. in Manhattan from 1:00-4:00 pm.

Let us hope that the incredible busyness that we saw at Tavern on the Green yesterday (both in the shop as well as waiting for our 8:00 pm reservations) translates into a better shopping year than the (reactionary?) news people are yelling about.

My favorite online event scheduling program, Doodle, has just released a new interface:

This makes it easier to figure out what to do with the program, and the sleeker and more professional-looking graphics makes me wonder about how they are demonstrating they want to break into the big leagues. Good for them! They have a simple product and do not make us users jump through all sorts of hoops to use it. Simple account set-up, easy-to-edit scheduling, and few ads. All around, a nice service to use. I have found Doodle even easy to use with technology newbies, which is often an audience with which I directly work.

They are a model for how Web firms should focus on their core competency and perfect what they begin before they expand into trying to do everything.

• Just walked the dogs and made some coffee. Wow, the city is quiet this morning. #
• I like being in NYC on holidays. So many New Yorkers leave the city, so it is rather quiet for those who stay and the tourists as well! #

Among the more detailed ornaments Michael Storrings paints is his Thanksgiving Day Parade ornament, which captures the joy and wonder of the parade I have felt for my 20+ years in New York City. How fitting it is for today, as the parade is about to begin.

BTW, this ornament is available at a number stores in New York, including Saks Fifth Ave. in Manhattan.

Michael Storrings will be signing his book A Very New York Christmas at the Gift Shop at Tavern on the Green today from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. What better place to see after the Thanksgiving Parade than Tavern, which is located right in New York’s Central Park.

• Why did I schedule a car wash and wax so early on such a busy day before the holiday. #
• Drove through a near white-out in the Catskills. We have a foot and a half of snow on the ground. So far have had 3 feet of snow this year. #
• Horrible traffic through the Lincoln Tunnel back into Manhattan. #
