@JeffreyKeefer I’m an independent scholar. I actually do consider myself an academic, b/c I feed (and am fed by) academic things:
@JeffreyKeefer conferences, presses, journals, libraries, etc. But I am not a teacher or prof. w/any institutional basis. Not adjunct.
@JeffreyKeefer But it is still difficult to consider oneself academic b/c one is rarely recognized as academic w/out institutional base.
@JeffreyKeefer Still, w/out academic base, difficult to be seen as legitimate academic–as scholar, I know legitimacy comes from instituts.
