hi Jeffery – a very quick response to your question. I think there are two things that stand out for me. Firstly, that when asked to review their CPD all the trainees came up with a wide variety of activities, everyone had different views on what had been most successful for them and when given the opportunity to share this other ideas also spung up. This reinforces for me the importance of collaboration and sharing.
Secondly, that using models of reflection is difficult, adds an extra ‘layer’ to reflection that can be difficult for beginner teachers/reflectors and I sometimes question how useful these are. What I did like about this session was that my colleague is undertaking his own action research project at the moment, so the group were asked to evaluate two models of reflection for him to choose to use when reflecting on his project. This added a ‘real-life’ reason for completing this task, and I like that.
